Ryssa is the creative behind Ryssa Kay Photography, a Michigan-based lifestyle photography brand rooted in authenticity and emotion. She grew up in Concord, Michigan, and graduated from the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, where she pursued a degree in finance. While her education and career path led her into the business world, she always found herself drawn back to the camera.
From friends and family to a real business.
Photography has been part of Ryssa's life for as long as she can remember — a creative outlet and passion throughout her life. She began by capturing photos of friends and family, eventually photographing her own senior pictures, which sparked something bigger. From there, word-of-mouth turned into real opportunities, and her photography business naturally grew into what it is today.
Family is a huge part of Ryssa's life. She has a sister, nine years apart, and is a proud aunt to her niece and nephew, Colette Ivy and Giovanni Joseph — the two lights of her life. These relationships inspire the way she captures connection, love, and genuine emotion in every session.
Ryssa loves photography because it allows her to freeze real moments in time — the expressions, the laughter, the love. Being able to capture those memories for people to look back on is what makes it all worth it to her. Whether she's behind the bar at her full-time job or behind the lens, she is always observing and capturing life as it happens.
